Digital Learning Information

Your student is required to log into Canvas and complete digital learning assignments for the time we are out of school. Below is information on how to log into Canvas as well as where to find more information from PCSD regarding this matter. Our office hours are 10:00-11:00 AM and 1:00-2:00 PM Monday - Friday. If you need to reach us, please message on Dojo or in Canvas.

HERE is more information for parents to set up a parent observer account and the parent observer code for your students Canvas account. 

For your student to access CANVAS where their assignments will be housed, see below. 

1. Visit the PCSD home page at  https://www.paulding.k12.ga.us/Paulding 

2. Click on the Student Dashboard icon:

3.  Click on Canvas on the icon list

4. Log into Canvas as the student would log into the computer. If your student does not know this information, send a Dojo Message. 

                Username: Lunch # 

                Password: first, middle, last initial along with birth month and birth day

                                 Example: abc0314 

5. After logging in, the student will see their Dashboard with all classes. They need to complete ONE Reading, ONE Math, ONE Specials area, and ONE Venture class (if that applies to you) for all 10 school days we are out. 

If you are unable to complete these assignments due to no internet or no computer, your student will be given a packet upon our return to school.  

If you child is being served in the System 44 & Read 180 programs, please see the information below on how to access the program at home. If you have any questions about logging into the programs please email (Read 180) anjones@paulding.k12.ga.us, (System 44) swier@paulding.k12.ga.us or lwatson@paulding.k12.ga.us.

Milestone Review

We are approaching Milestone prep time. HERE you will find the 5th grade study guide to help your student prepare for all 5 academic test. You can also visit the Georgia Department of Education End of Grade Resource Center HERE.

In Mrs. Plante's Math Class...

This week we are finishing our last standard for this year (YAY!) with measurement. We will be focusing on metric and customary conversions. 

HERE is the parent letter outlining what your student will be learning.

Standard: MGSE5.MD.1 Convert among different-sized standard measurement units (mass, weight, length, time, etc.) within a given measurement system (customary and metric) (e.g., convert 5cm to 0.05m), and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems.

Reminder, on Tuesday-Thursday from 7:20-8:00 am the students can come to my room and reassess any math standard they received a 1 or 2 on via Quizizz. Please review their report card with them, so they know what standards they need to reassess.

We will continue reading The Mostly True Adventures of Homer P. Figg by Rodman Philbrick. Our spelling words are listed below. Vocabulary Test is Tuesday, March 10th. Students have received a paper copy of these words as well.

We will also continue our NBI groups, System 44, and Read 180. For the students that remain in my classroom during this segment, we will be transitioning back to a fiction text for this NBI cycle.
